At École Ste Marguerite Bourgeoys we recognize that we live on Treaty #3 traditional territory. We strongly believe that it is important children understand and appreciate the culture, traditions and language of the Treaty #3 First Nations and Métis and we are proud to offer a variety of programs in our school.

Our school is proud to celebrate the French Métis culture by participating in Louis Riel Day events as well as Festival du Voyageur. Every second year students travel to St. Boniface in Winnipeg, to take part in the Festival du Voyageur events. During years where students don't travel, teachers set up numerous activities throughout the school to celebrate.

In 2017-2018 Kenora Catholic began the Elder in Residence Program. There is one elder located at the Catholic Education Centre who supports our school with language and culture initiatives.

Our school also takes part in Spring and Fall Feasts, and our students always look forward to the Fall Harvest at Pow Wow Island on Wauzhushk Onigum Nation.
