École Ste Marguerite Bourgeoys students and staff celebrated Franco-Ontarian Day on September 25.
Students wore green and white which, as the colours of the Franco-Ontarian flag, represent the diversity of Ontario's climate (green for summer and white for winter).
Students also participated in a colouring contest.
Vice-Principal Andrea Sachowski talked about why they felt it was important to mark the day.
“Franco-Ontarian day is a special day for our École Ste Marguerite Bourgeoys community as it gives us a reason to celebrate and promote our French culture. We want our students to feel proud of their ability to speak French,"
She added that they felt participating in the day as a school community was also especially important.
"We feel it is particularly important this year to celebrate events as much as possible in order create a sense of community and belonging for our students. We are finding creative ways to connect our school community. We gathered through a Google Meet to play a game of Kahoot on Franco-Ontarian trivia. It was fun to hear the excitement and cheers from class to class!” she said.
